In March 2010, the  Malaysia Marine Department commissioned a AIS-based Remote Monitoring  System  for 15  lighthouses in the Sabah Marine Department. The Marine Department previously monitored their lighthouses using GSM but with their extensive AIS Base Station network covering all of Malaysia, the decision was made to monitor the lighthouse using the AIS network.

Automatic Power has delivered what is believed to be the first LED-only, Zone 1 EEx ‘d’ rated 15/10/3 mile, Morse ‘U’, obstruction lighting system for the Deep Panuke offshore platform project in the North Atlantic Ocean off of Nova Scotia, Canada. To meet the 15 mile requirement, four each 1X22 high flux LED arrays are mounted at the focal point of a stainless steel, parabolic reflector. The highly efficient reflector uses a state of the art dichroic hybrid spectral metal coating. The LED’s are mounted on metal core PCBs with patented integrated heat pipes to cool the LED arrays without a cooling fan. This highly efficient, passive, cooling system gives the LED array the highest design life in the marketplace.

Automatic Power is pleased to introduce its unique helideck lighting solution that uses LED light sources for all the lighting requirements. The system starts with the LED lantern enclosure (FA-250EX 962 and FA-165 EX 962 lantern) which is comprised of cast base of LM-6 marine grade aluminum, an upper section with a toughened, tempered glass globe cemented into a support ring and a tapered spigot joint forming the flamepath. These lanterns are designed to provide superior heat, impact and UV resistance than competing plastic lanterns. Both lanterns are ATEX Zone 1 Certified EEx ‘d’. Ingress Protection is IP-66.
